Following your feedback, we have been working hard to redesign our main South Cambridgeshire District Council website.

We hope to have created a more modern and simplistic that makes it easier to carry out transactions online, at a time that is convenient for you.

We Value Your Feedback on Our New Website!

As of Tuesday, 11 March 2025, we have soft-launched our new website. Our soft launch allowed residents to explore and provide feedback on the site ahead of the full launch on Tuesday, 25 March 2025.

We aim to ensure that our website meets your needs. Therefore, we kindly request that you use our new site and share your thoughts—what you like, what you dislike, or any issues you encounter.

Please note that when the new site launches on Tuesday, 25 March, access to the current site will no longer be available. However, you will not need to update any of your links, as they will continue to work seamlessly.

While we may not be able to address all feedback within the next few weeks, we will consider it for future updates.

1 year ago It doesn't matter how much you pay! No cos the council clearly wants to confuse you and try and get you to PAY MORE! How do they do this? Well no matter how much you pay into your account the balance shows as 0! Yeah they don't care about confusion. No they couldn't care less. This has happened to me TWICE in two months both times I log in pay the rent and then it vanishes poof into thin air like it never even existed like the so called 'suppliers' who according to their message are trying to fix it and apologise for inconvenience. HAHAHAHAHA no I don't think there are suppliers. Nor an IT team trying to fix it. Or anyone who cares. I think its a scheme to get everyone to pay more via direct debit. What services is my money going to? Sure as hell isn't going to the service of hiring employees who have more than a few braincells

User 1940401 year ago I think that a lot of customers don't know what each planning application is, listing them with a small explanation would help with knowing right application to use. It is also important to use tabs rather than test where people with disabilities can't easily navigate the website. The planning portal tab - a small explanation of what it is for would help rather than going right onto the website which does not say what it is.

Peter Sixsmith1 year ago Just having a quick look at the new website, it looks really good, it feels warm, clear and welcoming.I was looking at the green vertical lines on the headings at top of pages and was wondering if they could do with being a bit longer in relation to the font height? There are other examples on the new website such as at the bottom of the home page in front of 'South Cambs magazine' and 'Latest news' which are longer in relation to the font height and I think these look better as they stand out more and are differentiated more from the text.

1 year ago I often use the search bar myself as its so much quicker to find what i am after. However this function on the new website doesnt work, for example if i typed in HMO (which i would do on the old website) a link to that page would come up straight away, but on the new website it just shows no results. Without this function working it will take people ages to find what they are after - as it took me ages to find the HMO page. Also if people cant find it straight away they will be calling and emailing us, so our workload is definitely going to increase if the search function doesnt workI like the In My Area search box, i think this will be really handy for residents

User 6749601 year ago Working in the waste department I've taken a first quick overall look at the new look website all feels a lot slicker/more intuitive, I like the addition of the section 'What goes in which bin?'This is a query about 'Find your household bin collection day'If a 'changed collection date' was presented on the calendar it was highlighted in a different colour. (Highlighted in the attachment)Personally I used to find this a useful feature & drew my eye to changes in my collection schedule. Is this a feature change request/purposeful change for the new look/design website?

1 year ago From my cursory searching, I appreciate the new design. It is user friendly and easy to pull up information specific to me.It is nice that I can search for planning applications and events taking place in my area, with a slider to adjust the radius, however I would also like the option to filter the types of events (e.g., fundraisers, community initiatives, I personally would also like to see a section where I can put in my details, and be told everything I might be eligible to recieve from the council and services it funds, or participate in (such as council tax reductions, bus passes, financial support, elections, etc.)I would also appreciate if information surrounding historic elections can be made much easier to access and in more complete form as certain Parishes, such as the Hatley Parish Council, have incomplete records.I also appreciae how I can reject all cookies in one click, and the button to do so is clearly marked on the screen.I am leaving this feedback because I agreed I would at some point in the past, in an effort to help the council improve the layout of it's website.

Peter Mann1 year ago Put a heading 'Non-essential cookies' above whatever you consider those to be to make the 'Reject non-essential cookies' button relevant. Highlight the 'off' / 'on' switch in red / green to make them visually more obvious. Functionality cookies – could be helpful to the website visitor, but needs short explanatory text to say why. The 'In my area' cookie text is incomplete, ending as it does '...to your property such as;'. For the 'In my area' box, make it automatically put postcodes in caps.
